Induction Program 2025: Igniting Young Minds at MVGR College of Engineering
Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj (MVGR) College of Engineering (Autonomous), Vizianagaram, successfully conducted its Induction Programme 2025 from August 25 to September 4, 2025 with the theme “Igniting Young Minds.” The programme aimed to prepare first-year students for academic, professional, and personal growth through a structured series of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions.
The event began with an inaugural ceremony and addresses by Sri. P.S. Sitharama Raju, Director, Prof. Y.M.C. Shekhar, Principal, and Prof. R. Ramesh, Provost & SAM, who emphasized on Engineering education, holistic learning, a brief overview on MVGR and its facilities.
Knowledge-Enriching Sessions
Students participated in a variety of sessions covering career guidance, technical skills, innovation, values, wellness, etc:
- Campus Placements & trainings: Prof. M. Sunil Prakash, Dean–T&P, along with Dr. M. V. V. Bhanu, TPO, introduced the students to various "Placement opportunities and training programs", highlighting the college’s success with statistics from the past several years at MVGR.Â
- Communication & Ethics: “Power Up Communication Skills” by Prof. S. Mohan Kumar, Dr. D.V. Raghuvamsi, and Smt. L. Sujatha; “Living the Values – Ethics & Etiquette” by Prof. S. Mohan Kumar and Prof. M. Anil Prakash.
- Innovation & Career Development: “From Idea to Impact” by Prof. K. Praveen and Prof. M. Kannam Naidu; “Exploring Career Paths and Future Prospects” by faculty from respective departments.
- Beyond Books: Dr. G. Pramod Kumar and Mrs. Vasanthi introduced students to NCC & CLAD, while the Faculty of Chemistry and Physics highlighted the role of sciences in engineering.
- Technology Skills: Prof. K. Sobha Rani (Google & AWS), Dr. G. Satyanarayana Reddy (Salesforce & ServiceNow), and Sri. K.V. Subba Raju (CISCO – Future-Ready Skills) guided students on cutting-edge technologies, career focused technology trainings at MVGR and their industry relevance.
- Skill Growth & Open Source: Sri. M. Vamsi Krishna motivated students on leveraging open-source platforms, GeeksforGeeks, and Swetcha for skill building and problem-solving.
- Learning Resources: Dr. K. Uma Mahesh Yadav, Librarian explained effective usage of e-resources, journals, and the Central Library.
- Social Responsibility: Sri. N. Shanmukha Rao and Dr. K. Satyanarayana Raju encouraged students to participate in NSS & FYFP activities, instilling the joy of service.
- Women Empowerment: Prof. P. Ujjwala Kranthi Prabha and Dr. Sarah Kamala Kumari addressed gender equality and the initiatives of the Women’s Cell.
- Other Notable Sessions: Dr. BMB Krishna (Math Made Fun), Sri. Venkatesh & Pavani (Logic & Reasoning Skills), and Prof. M. Anil Prakash & Dr. K. Ajay (Outreach, Clubs & Communication).
- Campus Tour: Prof. Sarat Kumar Sahu, Dr. B. Madhav Varma, and Dr. V. R. Sankar Cheela explained the various sustainable practices being followed at MVGR as part of the campus tour.
A key highlight was the guest lecture by Shri T. Sivaprasad, an Electrical Engineer with over 40 years of experience in the steel and power sectors. A UGC Fellow and retired General Manager (Electrical), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, he shared valuable insights on process upgrades, energy efficiency, and global career opportunities.
In addition, the members from the Brahma Kumaris, Vizianagaram – BK Subbareddy, BK Vaishnavi, BK Saraswathi, BK Hemalatha, BK Manjusha, and BK Padmasri – delivered inspiring sessions on Yoga & Meditation for a Healthy, stress free & Successful Life. These sessions emphasized stress management, inner peace, and mindfulness as essential tools for academic excellence and personal well-being.
A special attraction was the Alumni Connect, where distinguished alumni shared their professional journeys, inspiring students with real-world experiences and success stories. The programme concluded with “Show Your Talent,” a cultural and creative showcase by the freshers.
The Induction Programme provided students with:
